Project: UST Closure – Farmington, New Hampshire

CHALLENGE

Portland Pump Co., was removing an underground storage tank (UST) from a gas station and requested St.Germain Collins to do the required New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) UST Closure Assessment.

INVESTIGATION

St.Germain Collins coordinated with NHDES, met NHDES onsite during the UST Closure Assessment, and communicated results to NHDES on behalf of the client.

In order to install the new UST, soils had to be removed; but due to the size of the property, soils could neither remain nor be reused onsite.  St.Germain Collins coordinated with a soil disposal facility, and collected and submitted samples required to qualify acceptance of soils so the project could continue on schedule.

NEXT STEPS

Three monitoring wells were observed during the UST Closure which were thought to be decommissioned.  St.Germain Collins will be decommissioning the monitoring wells according the NHDES regulations for the client.
