Accounting Assistant

St.Germain Collins is currently seeking a part-time Accounting Assistant.

The Accounting Assistant’s primary job function is to oversee entire Accounts Payable process for the company: receiving and processing vendor invoices; verifying invoices for accuracy; coding invoices with accounts for distribution to the general ledger; performing data entry of invoices into Ajera (accounting system); reconciling unpaid invoices to vendor statements; and working with vendors regarding payment of invoices.

Other tasks may include:

Routine mailing of client invoices and statements to clients, assisting with monthly invoicing, and supporting the Accounting Manager as needed.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • ‣ 1 year or more Accounts Payable experience and Accounting experience.
  • ‣ Proficiency in MS Office programs Excel, Word and Outlook; experience using Ajera a plus.
  • ‣ A desire to work independently while conforming to department policies and best practices.
  • ‣ A customer-service focus, with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization for problem-solving, training and coordinating.
  • ‣ The ability to offer timely, efficient payment to vendors.

Environmental Civil Engineer

St.Germain Collins has a need for a self-starting Environmental Civil Engineer who can work within a team-oriented structure dedicated to providing quality consulting services.

We are seeking a senior-level Environmental Civil Engineer who can design and permit bulk oil storage and fleet fueling facilities. This Engineer would also be responsible for writing and certifying Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans for facilities throughout New England and New York.

Specific responsibilities may include:

  • Writing and certifying SPCC Plans for bulk oil storage, marine oil terminals, fleet fueling, marinas, hospitals, manufacturing and higher educational facilities.
  •  Designing and permitting bulk oil storage, fleet fueling facilities and single aboveground storage tanks (ASTs) at local, state and federal levels.
  •  Inspecting aboveground storage tank systems to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.

The successful candidate will have:

  •  P.E. (Professional Engineer) license in Maine and New Hampshire required; P.E. license in other states is a bonus.
  •  10+ years of experience writing and certifying SPCC Plans, and designing and permitting bulk oil storage facilities.
  •  Certified as an American Petroleum Institute (API) Standard 653 Authorized Inspector or Certified as a Steel Tank Institute (STI) SP001 AST Tank System Inspector is preferred.
  •  A strong comprehension of 40 CFR Part 112 and an understanding of New England, New York and other states’ oil pollution and control regulations.
  •  Competency in basic computer skills.
  •  Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  •  Valid US driver’s license.
  •  Physical demands: While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is often required to sit or stand for extended periods of time, walk (at times over uneven surfaces), reach with arms and hands, and to stoop or kneel. Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and/or clothing (e.g. steel-toed boots, tyvek suits, etc.) is routinely required. At times, lifting of equipment weighing up to 50 pounds may be required. Work environments range from office to industrial indoor settings to outdoors in all weather conditions.

Civil Engineer

St.Germain Collins is seeking a mid-level, detail-oriented Civil Engineer for our Westbrook, Maine office.

Our Civil Engineering team assists private and public clients on a broad range of commercial and residential development projects. We have a need for a self-starting civil engineer who can work within a team-oriented structure dedicated to providing quality consulting services. The breadth of work will span development of design plans and specifications, preparation of land development permit applications, and on-site construction inspection.

Civil Engineer’s specific responsibilities may include:

  • • Scheduling and coordinating various phases of engineering work
  • • Stormwater modeling, best management practice design, and drainage system layout
  • • Developing grading plans and maps using AutoCAD®, Civil 3D® and ArcGIS®
  • • Organizing technical design specifications
  • • Performing field inspections at active construction sites
  • • Preparing technical documents, presentations, and reports

The successful candidate will have:

  • • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
  • • PE license in Maine or ability to acquire license within 6-months of hire
  • • 5+ years of experience designing and permitting land or site development projects
  • • Technical experience in the design of stormwater best management practices and preparation of erosion and sedimentation control plans
  • • Competency in HydroCAD®, AutoCAD, Civil 3D®, ArcGIS® software and basic computer skills
  • • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • • Valid US driver’s license
  • • Physical demands: While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is often required to sit or stand for extended periods of time, walk (at times over uneven surfaces), reach with arms and hands, and to stoop or kneel.
